Victim of assault in Norman requests to suppress video

The Associated Press - December 10, 2016 10:42 am

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) – Lawyers of a woman punched by Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon are asking a judge not to publicly release video of the incident.
The Oklahoman newspaper reports the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters has filed a lawsuit seeking video of the July 2014 incident that led to Mixon’s suspension from the football team for that season.
Attorneys for the woman, Amelia Molitor, asked a judge Thursday to suppress the surveillance video, arguing that releasing it wouldn’t tell the full story. Molitor has also sued Mixon.
The association is challenging the city of Norman’s decision not to release the video. The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled in the association’s favor Tuesday. The city has 20 days to appeal.
Mixon apologized last month to Molitor, and to his teammates, coaches and fans, saying he “reacted poorly.”
