JAY, Okla. (AP) – The Democratic challenger in the Delaware County sheriff’s race says he’s asking for a recount after unofficial results show him losing by seven votes.
Mike Shambaugh told the Tulsa World Friday that he’s asking for the recount in his race against incumbent Republican Sheriff Harlan Moore.
The Delaware County Election Board said the manual recount will begin at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Complete but unofficial returns from Tuesday’s election show Moore defeated Shambaugh by a count of 7,797 to 7,790.
