Motion Withdrawn To Revoke Bond Of Former Peckham Public School Superintendent

NEWKIRK – The Kay County District Attorney’s Office withdrew the motion to revoke the bond of former Peckham Public School Superintendent Gary Young, 65.

Young faces six felony charges related to alleged sexual abuse to children under the age of 16 and at least one former employee of the school (See story here). Young broke the terms of his bond in late December and early January when he was on house arrest, but seen at the Walmart in Blackwell on Dec. 22, 2019 and Jan. 6, 2020 (See story here). According to surveillance video, Young was seen with his brother, David Young, on both occurrences. His bond was then filed to be revoked. Assistant District Attorney Tom Lane spoke on behalf of the state and withdrew the motion to revoke Young’s bond. Young currently remains free with an ankle monitor.

The investigation is ongoing, and Young has been ordered to appear for a status docket on April 3.
