Lester Boyd Ebert Jr. of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 75 years.
Lester Boyd Ebert Jr. was born on November 16, 1940, in Blackwell to Lester Boyd and Waneta Mae (Barrows) Ebert Sr. He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools before moving with his family to Alaska. In 1956, the family returned to Blackwell where he completed his education. In 1960, he began working for Atlas Tank in Ponca City and later Tonkawa Tank. He married Victoria Ann Bay on January 26, 1962, in Blackwell and they made Blackwell their home. That same year he was crowned an Oklahoma Golden Gloves Boxing Champion and the newly married couple traveled to Chicago where he competed in the National Tournament. In the mid 1970’s he began Ebert Enterprises manufacturing storage tanks for fertilizer and beef processing companies. He owned and operated the business until his retirement in 2010. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and attending Sturgis in South Dakota. He also enjoyed hunting and drag racing.
He is survived by his wife, Vicky Ebert of Blackwell; his father, Les Ebert Sr. of Blackwell; a daughter, Sue Golliver of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; a sister, Darlene Wieland of Blackwell; two brothers, Mike Ebert of Van Buren, Arkansas, and Pat Ebert of Lewistown, Illinois; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, Erika Jones of Texas and her child Brayden Merkel of Texas, Elisha Koehler and husband John of Edmond and their family, Brooklyn and Brynley, Candace Moore and husband Dustin of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, and family McKynlee and McKaylen, Gabe Golliver of Blackwell, Brandon Ebert of Blackwell, Bryce Ebert of Blackwell and his children, Jaxson Browning, Matthew Morris and Jayden Ebert, Jari Ebert of Blackwell and her family Dallas and Riley, and Tyler Miller of Blackwell.
He was preceded in death by his mother; a daughter, Celeste Ebert; a son, Tony Ebert; and a brother, Gene Ebert.
Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 5th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with Rev. Mike Ebert of Van Buren, Arkansas, officiating. Burial will follow in the Braman Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Tyler Miller, Mike Terry, Frank Barrows, Roy Adams, Greg Sixkiller and Kelly Woods. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Ben Honeycutt, Dennis Carriger, Joe Davis and Bob Wilson.
