Cushing woman injured in Payne County accident

A Cushing woman was injured in an accident about 3:22 p.m. Tuesday  on Union Road and south of 104th, about 3 miles east of Perkins in Payne County.

Luchana Cook, 40, of Cushing was driving a 2008 Chrysler southbound on Union Road and left the roadway to the right, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Cook then overcorrected, left the roadway to the left, again overcorrected and left the roadway to the right, then went into a broadslide. Her car struck a culvert and rolled 1/2 time, landing on its top.

The Patrol reported Cook was pinned for about 30 minutes before being freed by the Perkins Fire Department.

Cook was transported by OU Medical Flight to OU Medical Center, where she was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal injuries.

The Highway Patrol reported the accident is still under investigation.
