Friendship Feast needs community’s help

The Friendship Feast is a free hot meal program which feeds needy people in Ponca City and surrounding communities. An evening meal is served from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday each week.

The average nightly attendance through the first nine months of 2016 has been 106 guests, including 90 adults and 16 children. At the end of the year, Friendship Feast will celebrate 26 years of this feeding mission program.

On Tuesday, Dec. 13, Friendship Feast will host its annual Christmas Party in the Fellowship Hall of First Christian Church. Guests will be treated to a turkey dinner with dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, dessert and drinks. Between 250 and 300 guests are expected. Gifts will be provided to all children and adults who attend.

As finances for many become more tenuous and increasing numbers of guests attend Friendship Feast’s evening meals, organizers are asking the community to support Friendship Feast monetarily. To help fund this year’s Christmas Party or contribute to the ongoing feeding mission, send checks to First Christian Church, 210 North Fifth Street, Ponca City, OK 74601.
