Lawrence Joe Patrick of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday evening, August 17, 2016, in the AllianceHealth – Blackwell, at the age of 75 years.
Lawrence Joe Patrick was born on October 10, 1940, in McAlester, Oklahoma, to Marion and Ruby (Crowder) Patrick. He grew up in McAlester until the age of nine when he moved with his family to Oklahoma City and graduated from Northeast High School in 1958. Following his education he began working as a bookkeeper for various businesses in the area. He married Rebecca Ann Gilliland on May 29, 1959, in Oklahoma City. He later began taking evening accounting classes and the University of Oklahoma while working during the day. At the age of thirty, he accepted Jesus Christ as Lord of his life and later attended Tennessee Temple Bible College in Chattanooga, Tennessee and upon completion moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where he worked for Roloff Evangelistic Enterprises. In 1982, they returned to Oklahoma City to care for his parents and he returned to working as a contract accountant for several firms. Following retirement in 2001 they moved to Blackwell to make their home. He enjoyed playing and watching basketball, watching Sooner football and was an avid reader, especially Bible prophecy.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Patrick of Blackwell; two sons, Rev. David Patrick of Perryopolis, Pennsylvania, and Steven Patrick of Ponca City; a sister, Barbara Osos of St Augustine, Florida; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 22nd in the Blackwell Cemetery with Rev. David Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
