Donna Mae Heckelsmiller
(July 4, 1931 – July 31, 2016)
Donna Mae Heckelsmiller left this earth and entered Heaven on Sunday, July 31, 2016.
Donna Mae was born on July 4, 1931, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Herbert H. and Mable (Burkhalter) Davis. She lived her entire life in Blackwell where she graduated from Blackwell High School with the class of 1949. Upon graduation she was employed by Security National Bank of Blackwell and worked there until her retirement in 1994. She was on a Blackwell bowling team for many years with her good friends. She was also a member of the Blackwell Saddle Club and loved riding her horses in her younger years. She was a long time member of the Nardin United Methodist Church.
Donna Mae married the love of her life, Eddie Heckelsmiller on April 11, 1969 in Nardin, Oklahoma, and they made Blackwell their home. Together they enjoyed traveling and woodworking. Their wooden crafts were enjoyed by many. She had a great sense of humor, and a twinkle in her eye and that twinkle will be missed by her family.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin Heckelsmiller of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; two nephews, Larry Shields and wife Connie of Blackwell and Danny Shields and Teresa Koenig of Ponca City; ; and nieces, Nancy Barnett and husband Wesley of Broken Arrow and Joella Walker and husband Vernon of Marble Falls, Texas, and Kari Day and husband Steve of Katy, Texas. She is also survived by two step-daughters, Julene Tolle and husband Tom of Nardin and LouAnn Hutchins and husband Delbert of Ponca City; and many great, great-great, and two great-great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death her parents, Herbert and Mable Davis; her sister, Mary Fern Shields; and brother-in-law, Merle Shields. Donna will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, in the Nardin First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Matthew Davis, Tyson Shields, Braden Davis, Mark Turner, Matt Shields and Garin Diedrick.
