Christine Dian Farrington
(January 5, 1947 – June 13, 2016)
Christine Dian "Chris" Farrington of Blackwell, Oklahoma, departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday morning, June 13, 2016, at her home in Blackwell at the age of 69 years.
Chris Farrington was born on January 5, 1947 in Russell, Kansas to John and Lavon (Jones) Koksal. She grew up in Elkhart, Kansas and attended Elkhart Public Schools. She furthered her education by attending Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico following her graduation from high school.
She married Danny Lee Farrington on July 20, 1979 in Portales, New Mexico where they lived for 16 years. While living in Portales she worked as a waitress, retail clerk, and a cake decorator. She was a Camp Fire leader for three years.
She attended church in Portales, New Mexico, and helped at the private school associated with her church working as a cook, janitor, as well as teaching Home Economics.
She moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma with Danny in 1995 to be closer to his mother. She worked in Blackwell cleaning houses, and ironing for several years. She then started doing what she loved the most; decorating cakes. She had to retire from cake decorating due to poor health.
Chris was an active member of Victory Fellowship in Blackwell. She enjoyed working in the area of ministries of help. She also enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for special events.
She is survived by her husband Danny Farrington of Blackwell, Oklahoma; four sons, Rick Nelson and wife Cindy of Farmington, New Mexico; Richard Nelson of Punta Gorda, Florida; Randy Nelson and wife Allison of Parrish, Florida; Rodney Nelson and wife Jennifer of Galveston, Texas; two step sons, Scott Farrington and wife Brenda of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; Mark Farrington of Beaver, Oklahoma; a step daughter, Kelly Farrington of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Eight grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews, and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister Charlen Koksal.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Victory Fellowship Church in Blackwell with Rev. Carolyn Rickner officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Harry Rowe, Terry Fiscus, Dave Keen, James Farrington, Dace Farrington and Zak Nelson.
Honorary casketbearers will be Rick Nelson, Richard Nelson, Randy Nelson, Rodney Nelson, Mark Farrington, Kelly Farrington, Scott Farrington, Dick Blagden, Cartha Blagden, and Dorothy Toben.
