Pauline E. Pilkington was born to Frank and Mable (Potter) Pilkington on July 24th, 1925 southwest of Ponca City, OK on a farm owned by John Whitson. Pauline passed away, Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the home of her son, David Buck. Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Longwood Cemetery.

In 1928 my folks, Leanard, Dollie, Earl, Henry and I moved to Siloam Springs, Arkansas. During the 1928-1931 depression, my father took ill, lost his money in the bank when the bank closed, and consequently lost the farm, I had started school at Jay Bird school in 1931, Arkansas, but attended a short time when we moved back to Ponca City in 1931. In January of ’32, I started to school west of Ponca City, Finley School. I attended Finley School until we moved 1/2 mile west of Waverly on Highland from Waverly on the Eberwein place and attended the Woodbine School my 7th and 8th grades. Graduated from 8th grade. September 1939 attended East Junior High and graduated from Ponca City Senior High School in May, 1943.

While in grade school when I was about 9 years of age, my teacher, Thelma Mott, entered me in the singing contest, where all the schools in Kay County could enter, I took 4th place. After graduating from High School, I was working during school and after graduating I worked at the S.H. Kress Store until I married William R. Buck, August 8, 1943. Bill and I moved to Norman, Navy and Marine base in Norman, Oklahoma until November 1943, when he was shipped to California, before going to the Pacific theater area.

When he returned we were stationed at Paris Island, South Carolina, when he was discharged in November 1945. I went back to work at Conoco, December 1945 to April 1947. We bought a home at 1213 South 9th and lived there until his death, March 6, 1992, where we reared two sons Ronald R. Buck born in 1947 and David Lee Buck born in 1949. I continued to live there until December 1994 when I sold the home and married Robert Rouse, January 14, 1995.

My primary occupation was being a homemaker and mother to my two sons, Ronald and David. However I was also active in civil life. I held several jobs outside the home, Registrar at the local office of B. S. A. and medical records Transcriptionist at the hospital, just to name a couple. I was charter member of the A.B.W.A. and the Ponca City Genealogical Soc. and a present member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. My hobbies were tracing the "Pilkington" family back prior to 1700 and compiling a family history for my brothers and sisters, camping, boating, traveling, and dancing.

I was a member of the First Baptist Church and Disciples Sunday School Class there. Though your hearts be heavy, weep not for me; rejoice and be glad for I am with my Jesus in Glory. I am the last of the clan and was preceded in death by my parents, my brothers Leonard O., Earl F., Henry, and infant brother LLoyd V. Pilkington, sisters, Helen Evans, Pearl Sprow and Dollie Garrett, My first husband William R. Buck, (1992) my second husband Robert E. Rouse, in 2012. I am survived by my sons Ronald R. Buck, his wife Carla Sue, David L. Buck, his wife Marilyn Sue, 5 grandchildren, Amber and Bruce Link, of Russelville Arkansas, Chad and Shauanna Buck, of Highland Heights, Texas, Lacy and Levy Scott, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Sarah Thomas, of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Paula Buck of Ponca City, Oklahoma, 5 step grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers I prefer a donation to the Ponca City Hospice.
