Cruz Payan

(May 3, 1962 – March 8, 2016)

Cruz Payan passed away at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the age of 53 years.

Cruz Payan was born on May 3, 1962, in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Refugio and Socorro (Loya) Payan. He married Ana Marrufo on April 4, 1979, in Parral Chihuahua, Mexico and later divorced. He moved to Idaho in the 1980’s and then to Blackwell in 1993. He was a hard worker and very generous helping people in need. He enjoyed exercising, cycling and fishing. He loved to spend time with his mother, siblings and family. He was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and a devout catholic.

He is survived by his mother, Socorro Bojorquez of Blackwell, Oklahoma; two daughters, Ana Levitt and husband Marc of Vicenza, Italy, and Irene Sanchez and husband Carlos of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two sons, Jose Payan and wife Antoinette of Deming, New Mexico, and Jonathan Payan of New York, New York; four sisters, Benita Sosa, Blanca Bojorquez, Griselda Bojorquez and Joenica Bojorquez; three brothers, Victor Payan, Baraquiel Bojorquez and Cesar Bojorquez; and eight grandchildren, Sidney Johnson, Laysha Payan, Gisele Payan, Marc Levitt Jr., Carlos Sanchez, Azalea Payan, Madison Levitt and Aidan Payan.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Tranquilino Payan.

Funeral Mass is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Blackwell, Oklahoma. with Father Ben Lwin officiating. Burial will follow at the Blackwell Cemetery.

Prayer services are scheduled for 6:00 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel, Blackwell, Oklahoma.

Casketbearers will be Jose Payan, Carlos Sanchez, Marc Levitt, Oscar Sosa, Cesar Bojorquez and Victor Payan.
