Robert ”Bob” Adams, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, in Ponca City. He was 69 years of age.
He will be lying in state Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 25 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home in Fairfax.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, in the Fairfax City Cemetery with Rev. George Weston officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City.
Bob was born July 3, 1946, in Fairfax, to Toy Elmer Adams and Phyllis E. Wood Adams. Bob grew up in Fairfax and graduated from Fairfax High. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Hutchinson, on Jan. 22, 1965, and they made their home in Fairfax.
In 1971 they moved to Ponca City. Bob worked for Hiland Dairy for several years and at the time of his retirement he was branch manager. He later worked security for several casinos in the Kay County area. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his companion of seven years, Lu Henry, of Ponca City; one son, Doug Adams, and his wife, Angela, of Nixa, Mo.; two daughters, Shawna Jackson and fiance, Jay Kincheloe, of Blackwell, and Amy Rich and husband, Kevin, of Eaton, Colo.; two sisters, Judy Ritchie of Cashion, Okla., and Beth Flud and husband, Mike, of Okmulgee; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was also survived by his faithful friend, Lucky, his dachshund.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Betty, in 2008.
