Martha May Miner

October 5, 1927 – February 22, 2016

Martha M. Miner longtime area resident, passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 at her home. She was 88 years of age.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Kenner of Otoe Baptist Church of Red Rock, OK Interment will follow in the Red Rock Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. There will be a visitation time for family and friends at Grace Memorial Chapel from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2016. The family has requested Memorials be made to the Otoe Baptist Church in Red Rock, OK or the Stillwater Bible Church in Stillwater, OK.

Martha was born on October 5, 1927 to Walter and Zella Tanksley Sullivan in Oxford, Kansas. Martha came to the Red Rock area with her parents as a child and grew up attending school in Red Rock and she graduated from Red Rock High where she lettered in several sports. She married Burton Miner on July 26, 1952 in Gainesville, TX and they made their first home in Gainesville and moved to Red Rock, OK a short time later. Martha worked as a Southwestern Bell Operator for a time in Red Rock and Ponca City She also owned and operated the Green Lantern Café in Red Rock for several years and in 1974 went to work with her husband operating the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Ponca City until 1995. During her spare time Martha enjoyed spending time with her Family, Dancing, Gardening and working out in the yard.

She is survived by her 4 Children: John Miner and wife Janice of Pawnee, OK Connie Johnson and husband Don of Argyle, TX Danny Miner and wife Tonda of Pawnee, OK and Mark Miner and wife Delphine of Ponca City, OK. 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Parents Husband Burton in 2002, 1 son Melvin Miner in 1972, 1 granddaughter McKala Miner in 2014 and a great granddaughter Halli Tessmann in 2014 and 1 sister.
