Scott Kulczycki
(December 4, 1966 – February 21, 2016)
Scott Kulczycki, a.k.a. Fireman Scotty, left this earth unexpectedly Feb. 21, 2016. Scotty never met a stranger and was loved by many people in the area. When things were rough in life, everyone knew that they could seek refuge with Scotty, as he was always non-judgmental and practiced unconditional love.
Scotty was born Dec. 4, 1966 in Troy, Michigan. The son of Richard Kulczycki and Sandra Lemonnier Kulczycki, Scotty attended school at Our Lady of the Lakes in Waterford. In high school, he snow-skied, water-skied, played football, and drove a crappy Pinto. He started his college career at Ferris State in Big Rapids and finished his degree when he moved to Oklahoma in 1986 at Northern Oklahoma College.
In 1987, he began his career as a firefighter, employed by the Ponca City Fire Department. On his days off from the department, he would help his fellow firefighters with various jobs. He retired after 27 years as Assistant Chief. He served as a reserve deputy for the Kay County Sherriff’s Department for many years. He frequently worked security for basketball games and wrestling matches at Ponca City High School. At the time of his passing, he worked for Covenant Security in the Phillips 66 refinery. He was a friend of Bill W.’s for 16 years, and loved and cherished all of Bill’s friends. Scott served his community by coordinating the Drug Store, working with the Special Olympics and serving on the Harmony House board. He enjoyed training in martial arts, raising elk, raising cattle, hunting quail and pheasant, skinny dipping in his pool, Monster energy drinks, and agitating his wife.
Scott is survived by his wife, Kim, and his awesome son Josh of the home, his mother Sandra of Kaw City, his father Richard and his wife Sue of Scottsdale, Arizona, his sister Denise and husband Chris Adams of Salt Lake City, Utah, and his in-laws, Doug and Jane King of Clarkston, Michigan, sister-in-law Kristy and Dave Scribner of Goodrich, Michigan and brother-in-law John and Tisha King of Clarkson, Michigan Other survivors include nieces Skylar, Gracie, Zoe’ and Sierra as well as nephews JT, Kegan, Cole and Mason. He leaves behind his brotherhood of firefighters, many friends, and numerous young people touched by Scotty.
