Maurice "Dan" O. Fisher I am a Veteran.

January 12, 1935 – January 22, 2016

Maurice O. ”Dan” Fisher, longtime Ponca City resident, passed away on January 22, 2016, in Ponca City at the age of 81. Dan was born on January 12, 1935, in Ponca City to Oren J. and Velma C. Griffin Fisher. Dan attended the Ponca City School system and then attended Letourneau University in Longview, Texas, graduating with a degree in Electronics. He served a tour of duty in the U.S. Army from December of 1954 to December 1956. Dan went to work for Conoco Inc. in the Electronics Research and Development Department in December 1961 and he retired in February of 1992 after 30 years of service.

Dan married the treasure of his life, Doris, on April 27, 1967, and she preceded him in death in 2010. Upon retirement, Dan and Doris enjoyed spending the winters in Apache Junction, AZ, and travelling to all parts of Colorado and Arizona. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ponca City where he was a member of the Disciples Class and was instrumental in installing, expanding, maintaining, and operating the sound equipment throughout the church for many years. Besides travelling with his wife, Dan enjoyed all aspects of trains from building them to riding on them, fishing, and Photography.

Survivors include 3 children: Karen and husband Kip Miles of Enid, OK; Dana Fisher of Gonzales, LA; Kelly and husband Jim Dandridge of Ponca City, OK; Grandchildren: Jason and wife Audrey Miles, Jeremy Miles and fiancé Megan Arnold, Allison Miles, Taylor Young, Dana II and wife Chelsea Fisher, Corey and wife Sarah Fisher, Jenna and husband Eric Bridges; great grandchildren: Darren Fisher, Raecyn Fisher, William Bridges, Ruth Ann Fisher, Aden Fisher, and Jaxon Fisher.

Dan was preceded in death by his Parents and his Wife Doris.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church Chapel. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City.

All memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma or to First Baptist Church Sound Department.

The family would like to especially thank Via Christi skilled nursing unit and Hospice of North Central Oklahoma.

Pallbearers are grandsons Dana Fisher II, Jason Miles, Jeremy Miles; nephews Brian and Kendall James, and very special neighbor, Todd Mason.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Disciples Class of First Baptist Church.
