Anna Belle Tarrant of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016 at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home at the age of 95 years.
Anna Belle “Annie” Tarrant was born on March 23, 1920 to Elige Wilson Snow and Savannah Mae Snow in Mena, Arkansas. The family moved to Blackwell around 1927 where she grew up. She married Calvin “Leon” Tarrant on December 27, 1945, in Wichita, Kansas, and they settled in Blackwell. They lived in Blackwell until moving to Arkansas City, Kansas, where they owned and operated Leon’s Drive In until they retired. Following retirement, they returned to Blackwell to be near her siblings. Her husband preceded her in death on July 26, 2006, and she continued to make Blackwell her home.
In her retirement, Annie enjoyed traveling around the country with her husband in their motor home, particularly traveling and meeting up with friends while camping in Florida and Texas in the winters and in Colorado in the summers. She also enjoyed camping at Kaw Lake, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and playing cards every week with her siblings, their spouses and friends.
She is survived by siblings Betty Sue Duncan and Billy Eugene Val Snow, and her three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Adeline Lonie Cuthbertson, Michael Wilson Snow and Charles Delano Snow; and her daughter, Brenda Kay Reed.
Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Thursday, January 21st in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
