William Karrol Ramsey
(October 2, 1942 – November 28, 2015)
William Karrol Ramsey was 73 years of age when he went to be with our Lord and Savior.
Karrol was born in Mountain View, Arkansas to Ruby Gladys (Brewer) Ramsey and Ulysses Otto Ramsey on October 2, 1942. He had two sisters and one brother: Shirley Ann (Ramsey) Alexander, Donna Sue Ramsey and Randy Curtis Ramsey.
Karrol was preceded in death by both of his parents and two siblings, Donna Sue and Randy Ramsey.
Karrol spent most of his childhood in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He attended McKinley and Lincoln Elementary Schools, then West Junior High and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1960. He attended Northern Oklahoma College and Oklahoma State University while studying forestry. Karrol worked in various capacities as a young adult but the majority of his career has been in the auto parts sales business.
Karrol was known and loved by hundreds of people through his work at Monger Auto Supply and Bumper to Bumper over the span of approximately 50 years. Once retired, he couldn’t stay still, so he began working part time delivering prescriptions for Toni’s Westside Health Mart. Again, Karrol made helping others a priority, and there wasn’t anyone who would argue that he was loyal to his work and to those he served.
Karrol married Janice Mae Todd on August 5, 1967. They lived in Blackwell, then moved to Drumright and landed in Ponca City where they would build a family and life together.
Karrol is survived by his wife, Janice Mae Ramsey, daughter Rylee Renee (Ramsey) Zaragoza and son Michael Wayne Ramsey. Karrol has five grandchildren: Jaden Elliott Zaragoza, Micah Andreas Zaragoza, Eli Jamison Zaragoza of Owasso, Oklahoma and Peyton Nychole Ramsey and Breckan Michael Ramsey of Shawnee, OK.
Karrol Ramsey loved his churches and the people he served with. He was very involved with the youth group, teaching Sunday School, served as a Deacon, mowed the grounds, drove the church van and bus, sang in the choir, as well as solo specials, was a member of a quartet and sang duets with his wife, Janice. He was very active in his church memberships at Broadway Missionary Baptist Church, Sunset Baptist Church and was currently a member at Longwood Baptist Church in Ponca City. Karrol was a faithful servant of our Savior and raised his family in the church. He was a Godly man who served without ceasing. He was loyal to his family, to his friends, and showed mercy and love selflessly even to those he didn’t know.
Karrol was known as a gentle giant, one who made everyone around him feel like they were a part of his family, even showing the love of a father to those who didn’t have a father of their own. Karrol’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, trips with family, singing and music. He loved building bird feeders and birdhouses and making squirrel feeders. He was always cracking pecans while enjoying a Thunder Game, football or a favorite movie on TV. In his younger days, he would ride a dirt bike, chop and sell firewood and was even known to have spent time at the roller rink with Janice. A more recent favorite way to spend time was taking a drive around the lake and roaming the outdoors with his best buddy, a German Shorthair Pointer named Baron. Karrol Ramsey’s main emphasis of life was his family. You will never have met a more devoted husband, father, Papa or friend.
