Lois Margaret Chance
(May 24, 1924 – November 13, 2015)
Lois Margaret Chance, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away November 13, 2015 at Via Christi Village. She was 91.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the Northeast Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Nigh, officiating. Burial will then follow at the Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City, Oklahoma . Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Margaret was born on May 24, 1924 to Francis Marion Greenwood and Edith Anna (Watkins) Greenwood in Siloam Springs, AR. She was the youngest of nine siblings. Margaret graduated from Newkirk High School in 1942. She loved music and was even held the position of first chair in Orchestra playing the Obo. She was married to Merrill Collins Chance, Jr. on March 12, 1945 in Ponca City, they were married just shy of their 60th Anniversary until his passing. They loved to travel everywhere, especially the western parts of the country. They loved going to rodeos and even went to Cheyenne, WY several years in a row to watch the rodeo. Margaret was also a member of a Western Swing Band until she was in her 80’s, she traveled a lot with the band even playing in Branson, MO and Donna, TX. Together they lived on a ranch near Braden school. She worked for Conoco for four years, Miller Mortgage, and was also a secretary for the FAA at the Ponca City Municipal Airport. Margaret also enjoyed watching football, even keeping notes and stats of players, she also enjoyed playing Bridge.
She is survived by her two sons, Merrill Chance III and his wife Vickey of Houston, TX, and Richard Michael Chance and his wife Kathy of Ponca City, OK. Three granddaughters Jennifer and Joe Mangelinkx and their three sons, Jesse, Taylor and Jaxon all of Houston, TX; Kimberly and Kevin Richard and their daughter Lauryn all of Dallas, TX; Sheena Anderson and her son Ace of Norman, OK.
Preceded in death by her husband, Ace Chance, her parents, four brothers and four sisters, and one great granddaughter, Lyllie Grace Richard.
Casketbearers will be Barney Barnett, Dennis Barnett, John Snavely, Bill Snavely, David Greenwood, Dennis Hyre. Honorary Casketbearers will be Brent Myers, Kevin Myers, Bruce Myers.
