Obituary for Ella Barclay

Ella Mae Barclay of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at her home at the age of 90 years.
Ella Mae Barclay was born on January 7, 1925, in Deer Creek, Oklahoma, to Lowell Willis and Agnes Marie (Hanyka) Conrad. As a young girl she moved with her family to Braman where she attended Braman Public Schools and graduated from Braman High School in 1942. On September 1, 1943, she married Jack Harry Barclay, who was serving in the Army Air Corps, in Sedan, Kansas. Following his discharge they moved to Tulsa and Oklahoma City. In 1965 they made Tulsa their home and in 1966 she began working as a secretary for the Tulsa Public Schools. She retired in 1980, after fourteen years of service. In 1986 they moved to Bartlesville to make their home. Her husband preceded her in death on May 2, 2006, and she continued to reside in Bartlesville. She enjoyed oil painting, needlework and ceramics. She was also an avid reader.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie Lavoie and husband Normand of Bartlesville; a son, Tom Barclay and wife Lesa Beth of Owasso; two sisters, Dorothy Oard of Wichita, Kansas, and Alyce Kohler of Blackwell; a sister-in-law, Mary Baumgardner of Braman; four grandchildren, Christy Clark and husband Chad of Stillwater, Lisa Gayle Jensen and husband David of Oklahoma City, Aimee Henderson and husband Joe of Bixby, and Craig Lavoie and wife Caroline of San Francisco, California; and five great grandchildren, Claire Clark, Alyssa Jensen, Chad Henderson, Dean Henderson and Ellen Lavoie.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Douglas Robert Barclay; and a step-brother, George Baumgardner.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 29th in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Tonkawa with the family of Ella Mae Barclay officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her honor with Eldercare, 1223 Swan Drive, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006.
