Obituary for Donnice Snow
Ponca City Now - May 26, 2015 12:00 am
On Sunday, May 24, 2015, God called Donnice M. Snow, longtime resident of Tonkawa, to her heavenly home to be reunited with family and friends who had passed on before her. She was 93.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, May 29, 1015. Burial will be in the Tonkawa IOOF Cemetery under the direction of the Tonkawa Funeral Home.
Donnice Moree (Olson) Snow was born January 29, 1922 at Lamont, Oklahoma to Foster B. and Moree C. (Black) Olson, the second of four children. Her family moved to Tonkawa in 1932, where she resided until 2000, when she moved to Oklahoma City to be near her daughter and son-in-law. She graduated from Tonkawa High School in 1939 and attended Northern Oklahoma College. She married the love of her life, Lester T. Snow of Tonkawa, on January 22, 1942 at Lawton, Oklahoma, where he was stationed with the 45th Infantry. She was a life-long member of the First Christian Church of Tonkawa.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Kincade and son-in-law Gary of Oklahoma City; her brother-in-law, Bill Turvey of Blackwell; nieces, Judy Ingels Irwin of Ponca City and Sandra Olson Nemeth of Houston; and nephews, Don Turvey of Braman, John Turvey of Ponca City, and Foster Olson of Houston. Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Lester; her sister and brother-in-law, Wanda Bee and Bill Ingels; her sister Marjorie Turvey; her brother and sister-in-law, Norvell and Dorothy Olson; and her parents.
Donnice’s life was one of service to her family as she worked beside her husband on the family farm. After his untimely death in 1973, she began caring for her aging parents, which she faithfully did until poor health forced her to move from Tonkawa in 2000. To sum up Donnice’s life, it could be said that she was kind to every person she ever met, had a smile for everyone, led a life of service to others, and always saw the good in everyone and everything. She truly was a person for whom the glass was always “half full”-an optimistic Christian whose deep, abiding faith manifested itself both with kind words and deeds. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her favorite charity, The Salvation Army of Oklahoma, PO Box 2095, Oklahoma City, OK 73101
