Obituary for Esther Taglialatela

Lifelong Ponca City resident, Esther Belle Lockart Taglialatela was called home on Monday, March 30, 2015. Esther was born May 16, 1924 the loving daughter of Callie Fry Lockart and Walter Lockart. After graduation from Ponca City High School, Esther worked at Mid America Garment Factory. Esther met the love of her life, Robert Francis Taglialatela while he was serving in the military during World War II. Esther and Robert were married in Newkirk, Oklahoma on June 10, 1945.

Esther and Robert were blessed with three children: Robert Franklin, Nanette Joan and Maurice David Taglialatela. Esther was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, fishing, playing cards and cooking. Esther and her husband “Tag” were members of the North Central Mineral and Gem Society. A longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Esther helped establish bingo night as a fundraiser for St. Mary’s School and volunteered for many years in that effort.

Friends and family alike will miss her keen sense of humor, her generosity of spirit, her fabulous cooking and her ability to entertain for hours with stories of her life and others that had touched her life.

Esther will be joining family members which proceeded her to heaven including her beloved husband Robert Francis Taglialatela, her mother and father, Callie and Walt Lockart, mother and father-in-law Silvia and Frank Taglialatela, nephew Antonio (Tony) Taglialatela and wife Deanna Lyons Taglialatela.

Esther is survived by her children and their spouses: Robert and Wanda Taglialatela, Bolivar, MO; Nannette and Ken Hill, Ponca City; and Maurice and Margie Taglialatela, Ponca City. Also, her sister Vivian Kauzer and husband John, Vidor Texas; niece Staceen Sinkler and husband Herb, of Kenosha, WI. Surviving grandchildren include Tanja and Jerry Henderson, Edmond, OK; Aaron and Carrie Hill, Farmington, NM; Daine Taglialatela, Ponca City; Sean and Tess Taglialatela, Ponca City; Kelsey and Trevor Feathers, Bartlesville, OK; Paige Hill and fiancé Chad Winslow, Ponca City. Great grandchildren are Colby Taglialatela, Cedar Vale, KS, Cheyenne and Anna Taglialatela, Bolivar, MO; Dryden Hill, Ponca City; Ashton Henderson, Edmond, OK; Emry Winslow, Mako Taglialatela and Hadley Taglialatela all from Ponca City. Great-Great grandson Cael Taglialatela, Cedar Vale, Ks.

Viewing by friends and family will be held at Trout Funeral Home on Thursday, April 2 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Services will be held in the Trout Funeral home chapel on Friday, April 3 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Lynn Schuyler officiating. Burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandson’s, Aaron Hill, Daine Taglialatela, Sean Taglialatela, Trevor Feathers, Colby Taglialatela, Dryden Hill and Ashton Henderson. Honorary Pallbearer will be good friend Paul Gray. Arrangements under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
