Obituary for Herman Doyle Diedrich

Herman Doyle Diedrich of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, in the Integris Bass Medical Center in Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 84 years.

Herman Doyle Diedrich was born on October 22, 1930, in Marshall, Oklahoma, to Carl Julius and Elizabeth (Nicholson) Diedrich. He grew up in Marshall, but attended the Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur, Oklahoma. He married Fern Evelyn Burns on June 11, 1953, in Marshall and they settled in Blackwell. He worked on the furnace for the Blackwell Zinc Company until the plant closed in 1974. He then began working for the Electron Corporation where he operated a herman machine until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of The Tabernacle in Blackwell. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, riding motorcycles and was an avid bowler.

He is survived by his son, Jerry Doyle Diedrich and wife Paula of Blackwell; his daughter, Carolyn Schatz of Blackwell; two brothers, J. C. Diedrich and wife Bonnie of Marshall, Oklahoma, and Bill Diedrich and wife Nita of Marshall, Oklahoma; a sister, Thelma Ficken of Clarks, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Loren Diedrich, Tyler Diedrich, Garin Diedrich, Holly Boyer, Shannon Russell, David Hall and Zach Schatz; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Donna Turner; and two sisters, Evadene Huffern, and Estalee Fordyce.

Services are scheduled for Friday, March 20, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in The Tabernacle in Blackwell with Rev. Cliff Johnson and Rev. Robert Johnson of The Tabernacle officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Lions South Cemetery near Marshall.

Casketbearers will be Loren Diedrich, Tyler Diedrich, Garin Diedrich, David Hall, Zach Schatz and Larry Hall.

A memorial has been established in his honor with The Tabernacle in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74361.
