Obituary for Jackie Davis

Jackie Ann Davis, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away February 24,2015. She was 87.
When she was 70 years old, Jackie climbed an 11,000 foot mountain in Colorado. After taking a few moments to catch her breath, she then yodeled out across the Rocky Mountains…it was the exuberance for life that lasted 87 years.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel, with a graveside gathering at Magnolia Cemetery in Bristow at 2:00 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Jackie was born on July 4th, 1927 and adopted by Glen and Myrtle Bryson of rural Bristow in 1929. Every Birthday was a Fourth of July Celebration with watermelon, cake and fireworks.
After graduating from Bristow High School in May of 1945, she attended Oklahoma A & M receiving of Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with additional credit hours in Psychology, Art and Physical Education. She began teaching at Ponca City Community Kindergarten at Garfield Elementary School in 1952, she also taught a Bristow and later returned to teaching Kindergarten for Ponca City Schools at Lincoln Elementary School until her retirement in 1996.
Edwin Dale Davis and Jackie Ann Bryson were united in marriage September, 14, 1955 and had three children: David, Grace and Mary. In 1968, they were divorced.
Jackie was an accomplished award winning Artist, loved driving around anywhere, acting silly, a good laugh, sports, nature, animals, and training her pets to do "tricks for treats." She possessed an impeccable moral character, which she was able to develop in her children and students, along with academics and critical thinking. She believed and taught that "Everything you ever needed to know you learned in Kindergarten." She loved everyone with a Mother’s love and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her three children and spouses: Dr. David Davis and wife Cindy, of Woodland Park, CO. Mary Miller and husband Bill of Ponca City, OK. Grace Klinger and husband Rick of Newkirk. Grandchildren, J. Elliot Davis Bryson, Glen Davis Anglin, and Shannon Davis, Hannah Pierce and husband Aaron Jones, Charles and David Miller.
