Obituary for Jess Sodowsky

Jess B. Sodowsky, Sr., age 96, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away January 7, 2015 in Wellington, Kansas.
He will be available for viewing from 1-8PM on Sunday, January 11 with funeral services to be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel with Russell Aday officiating. Burial will then follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Casket bearers will be Clint Sodowsky, Matthew Sodowsky, Joshua Sodowsky, Michael Kirk, Michael Farrar, and Jim Kelly. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Jess was born on July 17, 1918 to R.A. and Hazel Yeoman Sodowsky in Kaw City, Oklahoma. He was raised in the Kay County area, graduating from Ponca City High School in 1937. After high school, he attended Oklahoma A & M. While there he met his dear wife. On July 5, 1939, Jess married Mozelle A. Sharp. They have celebrated 75 years together. Subsequent to his marriage he went to work at Conoco until his retirement in 1981 finishing his career as Safety Director. He served in World War II and Korea with the US Army. During his children’s youth, he coached baseball, leading a ten year old team to win the state AAU championships. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, chasing grandchildren, as well as finding and restoring antiques.
Survivors include his beloved wife Mozelle, children: Janet M. Jones of Yukon, Oklahoma, Jimmie Lee Sodowsky of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Timothy B. Sodowsky and wife Robin of Wichita, Kansas, Jess B. Sodowsky, Jr.of Wichita, Kansas, Richard M. Sodowsky, and wife Donna of Norman, Oklahoma; sister, Ailene Moreland of Blackwell; grandchildren: Sonja Hall, Yvonne Sodowsky, Jennifer Herb, Clint Sodowsky, Katie Kirk, Matthew Sodowsky, Meagan Decher, Joshua Sodowsky, Jill Farrar, Keri Sodowsky, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Donald Sodowsky, and James Sodowsky.
