Obituary for Esther Herren

Esther Virginia Herren of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Monday, January 5, 2015, in the Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 80 years.
Esther Virginia Herren was born on September 13, 1934, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Henry Edward and Helen Mae (Wallace) Barrows. She grew up in Blackwell and attended Blackwell Public Schools. Following her education she married Raymond Roy Herren on June 3, 1951, in Blackwell and they settled in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. During her children’s formative years she actively involved with the Parent-Teacher Association and served as a substitute teacher. Later in life she became involved in the Senior Citizens Center in Blackwell. She enjoyed canning and gardening, selling her tomatoes, fishing, camping and deer hunting in Colorado. She also loved to visit with her many family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Herren of Blackwell; four daughters, Virginia Stojakovic of Blackwell, Janice Redding of Edmond, LaDonna Hale of Ponca City, and Sarah Wagnon of Tulsa; two sons, Steven Herren of Blackwell and Curtis Herren of Tonkawa; three sisters, Edith Purdy, Velma Turner and Vera McCurry all of Blackwell; thirteen grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Juanita Ebert; two brothers, Edward and Harvey Barrows; and a grandson, Rodney Watkins.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 8th in the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Mike Ebert and Rev. Cap McIlnay officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be grandsons, Ryan Hale, Heath Hale, Nick Grove, Eric Grove, Mike Murray and Jason Bell. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Todd Hale, Caleb Herren and Joel Herren.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the Blackwell Wheatheart Nutrition Center in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
