Obituary for Nelson Vining

Nelson Leslie Vining, resident of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014. He was 35.

The memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Howard officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Nelson was born on October 7, 1979 to Rockie and Becky Vining in Ponca City, OK. He was raised in Ponca City, OK and he graduated from Ponca City High school in 1998. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 2007 and he received an MBA from Oklahoma Christian University in 2014. He was employed as a chemical engineer for Devon Energy in Oklahoma City.

He supported a child in Africa through the charitable organization, Compassion. He provided Christmas gifts for many homeless children in Oklahoma City.

He is survived by two children, Alexa and Nelson Vining, II of Edmond. OK; parents; Rockie and Becky Vining of Ponca City, OK; three sisters, Kristi Vining of Ponca City ,OK; Andrea and her husband Lyle Crandall of Ponca City, OK; Casey and her husband Sherman Hicks of Nowata, OK. He is also survived by grandparent, Billie Vining of Arkansas City, KS, two nephews; Collin and Rockie; four nieces; Kaylynne, Makinzie, Brynn, Miley; plus a number of relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by grandparents; Milford Vining of Arkansas City, KS; Merrill and Annabelle Nelson of Arkansas City, KS

Honorary casket bearers will be Craig Whitnack, Russell Collins, Lyle Crandall, Sherman Hicks, Henry Cole, Jeremy Stillwell and Jason Stillwell.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Nelson Vining Memorial Fund for his children, Alexa and Nelson Vining, II.
