Richard was born on May 16, 1962 to Robert Jay Jones and Norma Joan Gingrich Jones in La Mesa, California. Richard was a man of music at his heart. Early in his life, he would sneak in drum lessons on the way home from school, his parents none the wiser of his pursuit. He matured into a rock and roll drummer, leading the Richard Jones band for years. His love of music contributed to his expansive collection of vinyl, which he was proud to have. Richard also enjoyed the martial arts and studied numerous disciplines. And, as a joker, he would do what he could to get a laugh out of others.
Survivors include his son, Robbie Jones and his long time girlfriend Madi Denton of Oklahoma City, stepchildren, Nicole Golay and husband Ritchie of Tulsa, Nathan Caudill of Ponca City, brothers Ronald Jones and wife Mona of Inola, Oklahoma, Robert Jones and wife Lisa of Madras, Oregon, sister, Susan King of Louisiana, special nephew Tommy Jones of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and fellow rock musicians. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions to support Richard’s love of music may be made to the ACM@UCO, 25 S. Oklahoma Ave., Ste. 400, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73104.
