Obituary for Maxine Ebert

Maxine Evelyn (McGill) Ebert of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday, September 12, 2014, at the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 95 years.

Maxine Evelyn (McGill) Ebert was born on October 26, 1918, in Drury, Kansas, to William B. and Bessie (Farris) McGill. At the age of two she moved with her family to rural Kay County where she attended District 26 and Dilworth Public Schools. Following her education she married Robert Dunlap on March 26, 1935, in Medford, Oklahoma, and they made their home in Blackwell. She began working at the Blackwell Laundry and Cleaners for several years and later began housekeeping for various families in the Blackwell area. She married Irvin Leer on February 21, 1956, in Stillwater and they made their home in Blackwell. On January 3, 1968, Irvin preceded her in death. She married Walter F. Evans on June 1, 1975, in Blackwell and they resided in Blackwell. On September 30, 1997, Walter preceded her in death. On November 25, 1999, she married Lester Ebert Sr. in Blackwell and they made their home in Blackwell. She was a member of the First Church of God Church. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Lester Ebert Sr., of Blackwell, Oklahoma; her daughter, Janette White of Blackwell; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren; and numerous step children; step-grandchildren; and step-great great grandchildren.

She was also preceded by her parents; three sisters, Opal Hayworth, Crystal Buesing, and Lola Jestes; one brother, Clarence McGill; and one son, Robert “Sonny” Dunlap.

Services are scheduled for 10:30 am, Monday, September 15th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Ebert of Van Buren, Arkansas, officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Ed Humble, Morgan Bergman, Pat Ebert Sr., and Les Ebert Jr.

A memorial has been established in her memory with the First Christian Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
