Obituary for Virginia Jeffries

Virginia Lee Jeffries of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Tuesday afternoon, September 9, 2014, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home at the age of 83 years.

Virginia Lee Jeffries was born on May 24, 1931, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Pete and Mary (McWilliams) Seacat. She grew up in Deer Creek, Oklahoma, and graduated from Deer Creek High School in 1949. Following her education she began working for the Blackwell Glass Company. After two years, she attended beauty college in Ponca City. She married Neal Ray Jeffries on May 9, 1951, in Blackwell and she worked as a beautician at Virginia’s Beauty Shop which she owned and operated for forty-two years. Her husband preceded her in death on December 15, 1982, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. In May of 1984 she married Roy Northcutt and they settled in Blackwell. He preceded her in death in 2010. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Blackwell. She also held membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Ladies Auxiliaries. She enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by a daughter, Vickie Gillespie and husband Robert of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a son, Pete Jeffries of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Robert Gillespie and wife Wanda of Gainesville, Florida, Jenny Belair and husband Scott of Enid, Travis Gillespie and wife Becky of Ponca City, Tammy Wagnon of Blackwell, and Staci Jeffries of Ponca City; and sixteen great grandchildren, Joshua, Makayla, Garret, Kynnedy, Joey, Celina, Brandon, Jeremy, Trenton, Lauren, Bridget, Sean, Alex, Gabby, Brittany and Heather.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ray Jeffries; and four brothers, Jack, Dwayne and Richard Seacat and an infant brother at birth.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 13th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Brock of Cushing, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin.

Casketbearers will be grandsons, Robert Gillespie, Travis Gillespie, and great grandsons, Jeremy Belair, Trenton Belair, Sean Gillespie and Alex Gillespie.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Alzheimers Research in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
