Obituary for Sara Trotter

Sara M. Trotter, resident of Ponca City, OK, passed away September 8, 2014. She was 79.

Her service will be held 2:30 pm, Friday, September 12, 2014, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church sanctuary with Reverend Ed Coy Light officiating. Burial will then follow at the Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Sara was born on July 12, 1935 to Grace and Dr. Carl Samuels in Kirksville, MO. She attended Pryor High School where she was a member of the band, Glee Club and was past worthy advisor of Rainbow Girls. Sara graduated from Pryor High School in 1953. She attended Christian College for Young Women in Columbia, MO. There Sara was active in the modeling squad, French Club, International Relations Club, Drama Guild, St. Cecilia Club, Twelfth Night and a member of the bowling and hockey teams. She graduated in 1955. Sara then attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and was associated with Gamma Phi Beta social sorority. She graduated from SMU with a bachelors degree in Commercial Art.

Sara married Jerry Trotter November 28, 1957 in Pryor, OK. They established their home and optometric practice in Ponca City in 1966. Mrs. Trotter taught school at Trout Elementary for two years before becoming a full-time mom to four children spanning 30 years. She was involved in PTA, Stephen Ministry at St. Paul’s Church, and was a supporter of the Jaycees and Lions Clubs.

Sara is survived by her husband Dr. J.C. Trotter, sons Clay Trotter of Overland Park, KS, Kyle Trotter of Ponca City, daughters Trey Trotter Fleming of Ponca City and Tana Trotter of Tulsa, as well as four grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Father Dr. Carl R. Samuels, Mother Grace R. Samuels, Sister Carl Wolf, and Niece Sara Wolf.

Casket bearers will be Clay Trotter, Kyle Trotter, Cole Trotter, Cory Trotter, Cort Trotter and Collin Trotter. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Cameron Fleming, Sidney Wefer, Seth Wefer, Camdon Fleming, and Libby Fleming.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 1904 N. Union Street, Ste. 103, Ponca City, OK 74601.
