Obituary for Charles Hare

Charles “Charlie” Donald Hare, 82, resident of Ponca City, passed away on Friday August 1, 2014.
Charlie was born on July 9, 1932, the son of Leonard and Allie (Thomas) Hare in Broken Bow, OK. He was the oldest of 10 children. He married Ruth Ellen Clinkenbeard in 1951 and they had 2 daughters.
Charlie was very proud of his career in the Army; he enlisted in April 1951, and retired a Command Sergeant Major in July 1991. He was a sign painter by trade and after his retirement he enjoyed escorting oversize loads around the country. After Ruth’s death in 1998, Charlie later married Jean Davis. They enjoyed 15 years together before his passing.
He is survived by his wife Jean of the home; 3 sons, Butch Mankins and wife Alisa of Cleveland, Billy Dowell and wife Chrystal of Canadian, and Michael Albert of Ponca City; 3 daughters, Donna and husband Harry Day of Dublin, Texas, Sherri Hare of Broken Arrow, Martha Mankins of Ponca City; 2 brothers Bobby and Fred Hare, 18 Grandchildren, and 12 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth, his parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Grace Memorial Chapel in Ponca City with Chaplain Tom Howard officiating.
