Obituary for Lorene Kinder

Lorene M. Kinder, resident of Ponca City, OK, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK after a brief illness surrounded by the love of her family. She was 85 years young.
The celebration of her loving life as a wife and mother will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the First Christian Church, in Ponca City, OK with Rev. Roberta Shaffer, officiating. A private committal will be held with the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Lorene was born on September 5, 1928 to Atwill "Sonny" Truitt and Mary Etta (Blurton) Truitt in Pawhuska, OK. She was raised in Pawhuska, and graduated from Pawhuska High School in 1946. After graduation she started to work for Southwestern Bell. She was married to George Kinder on September 26, 1947 in Pawhuska and together they had 3 daughters; Brenda, Roxie and Darla. Lorene and George opened their own business of Kinder Camper Sales in 1961. They continued with the family camper business until 1993. After selling their business, they devoted their lives to their grandchildren, taking them on camping and fishing trips every summer.
Lorene was president of the PTA of Liberty School, was a senior regent in the Women of the Moose, a member of VFW Auxiliary, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed volunteering at the Ponca City Medical Center Gift Shop, Hospice of North Central, and at First Christian Church. She especially enjoyed the Lunch Bunch and going to the Poncan Theatre activities with her girlfriends.
She was survived by 3 daughters, Brenda Duren and spouse Don of Ponca City; Roxie Maynard and spouse Glen of Edmond, and Darla Akers and spouse Jimmie of Ponca City. Fourteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren., two sisters, Louise Parker of Bartlesville and Doris Wolfe of Ardmore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband George, grandson Chet Duren , a brother Sammy Hugh, a sister Jean, and her parents.

The family would like to express appreciation to all the phone calls and inquires made about our Mom and Nana during this difficult time. She will be greatly missed but comfort and peace have been found knowing she has eternal life and peace.
