Obituary for Edward Spears

Edward Bee Spears of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday morning, March 12, 2014, at his home at the age of 80 years.

Edward Bee Spears was born on June 21, 1933, in Hanna, Oklahoma, to Edward C. and Sarah Viola (Morris) Spears. He attended Red Hill School in Okmulgee County. Following his education he moved to Blackwell where he began working for Turvey Packing Company. He later worked for the Blackwell Zinc Company, Acme Foundry and B. and S. Construction Company as a roustabout. He married Teresa Fernandez and they settled in Blackwell. In 1980 he began working for the City of Blackwell in the electrical and parks departments and retired in 1994. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Spears of Blackwell; three daughters, Rayleene Smithson of Longview, Texas, Cheryl Love of Blackwell, and Dolores Vega of Clint, Texas; a sister, Jeanneta Stowers of Pond Creek, Oklahoma; two brothers, Leo Spears of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, and Doug Spears of Blackwell; five grandchildren, Teresa Thompson of Longview, Texas, Dakota Brown and Emily Brown of Longview, Texas, Corina Vega and John Paul Vega of Clint, Texas; and two great grandchildren, Khylee Vactor and Kadence Cooks.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard Ovando; and a sister, Janice Spears.

A graveside memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 21st at the Blackwell Cemetery with James W. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
