Obituary for Geraldine Walton

Geraldine (Bush-Ewy) Walton went to be with her Lord on Monday, December 30, 2013, at the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell, Oklahoma, at the age of 85 years.
Geraldine (Bush-Ewy) Walton was born on October 23, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the daughter of Joseph and Bernice (Payne) Bush. At the age of five she moved with her family to Cherryvale, Kansas, where her father owned a restaurant in Parsons, Kansas. At the age of nine her family moved to Blackwell where she finished her education. In 1947 she married Elmer “Bud” Ewy and they made their home in Blackwell and raised three children, Cathy, Larry and Jeffrey. In 1960 she entered nursing school and after completion of her education she began working at the Blackwell General Hospital as the Ob-Gyn nurse for fifteen years. In 1973 she moved to Kansas and continued her nurse’s training in Topeka, Kansas. Following her training she began working in Cardio-Vascular Care. In her free time she loved writing and painting. In 1994 she returned to Blackwell. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, a past president of the American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary, Blackwell Cheerleaders Booster Club, and the Girls’ Softball Boosters. She felt her life had truly been blessed.
She is survived by a daughter, Cathy Peetoom and husband Robert of Nardin, Oklahoma; a son, Jeffery Ewy and wife Connie of Louisburg, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Bernice Bush; husband, Elmer “Bud” Ewy; a brother, Cecil Bush; and a son, Larry Ewy Sr.
Services are scheduled for Thursday, January 2, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Ned Moerbe officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Ryan Peetoom, Travis Peetoom, Bradey Ewy, Billy Ewy, Tyler Ewy, Larry Evy Jr., Joe Ewy, and Mitchell Ewy.
A memorial has been established in her memory with the Trinity Lutheran Church or the Blackwell Elementary School Library in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma. 74631.
