Obituary for Russel Sisco

Russel Theodore Sisco, longtime resident of Marland, died Saturday September 14th 2013 at the Ponca City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Russel was born July 6, 1923 in Mellette, Oklahoma to Sam and Cynthia Sisco. He married Maggie E. Mizell on November 4, 1943. The couple made their home near Keystone before moving to the Ponca City area in 1947. They later made their home in Cleveland from 1957-1962, and then they moved near Pawnee. In 1968, the family moved to Marland, where they resided, managing the dairy farm for Farrell Eaton. Mr. Sisco retired from the city of Ponca City in 1983. He was an avid coon hunter and also had a team of mules with a wagon and several horses that he used for trail rides and area parades. With all of the various tractors and tillers available to him to plow his gardens he insisted on only using his team of mules and a one bottom plow.
He is survived by his children Dorothy Smith of Sand Springs, Carolyn Barnett and husband David of Ponca City , Donald Sisco of Marland , Ronald Sisco and wife Cheryl Sisco of Ponca City , Lonnie Sisco , son-in-law Terry Mullennax ,Kenneth Sisco all of Ponca City , LaDonna Sisco of Marland, Larry Sisco of Ponca City , Denise McClaflin of Marland, Cathie Sisco of Ponca City , Cindy Sinor and husband Jim of Ponca city , Terry Sisco of Marland , Tamie Schneeberger and husband Jerry of Lamont. Mr. Sisco had nine grandchildren: James Dale Smith, Jerrald Smith and wife Kim all of Sand Springs, Tim Sisco of Ponca City, Rhonda King and husband Chad of Ochelata, Justin Mullennax and Cassi Dunkel of Winfield, KS, Lonna Hill and husband Josh of Ponca City, Ronnie Sisco of Ponca city, Ashleigh Schneeberger and Ben Weber of Covington, Maggie Schneeberger of Lamont; nine great grandchildren:Brittany, Hailey, Christopher and Hunter King. Jennah, Paige and Chase Smith, Emma and Adleigh Weber; two brothers: Billie Sisco of Morrison and Henry Sisco and wife Sharon of Ponca City. Three sisters: Merry Gordon and husband Gene of Mannford, Lois Brashears and husband Johnny of Ochelata ,Margie Harp and husband Bill of Tuttle, sister-in-law Louise Sisco of Ponca City, brother-in-law Johnny Coffman of Lawton, and long time friends Farrell and Polly Eaton of Marland.He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his wife Maggie, infant daughter Deanna, brother Olen Sisco and sister Lula Coffman; two sons-in-law, Darwin McClaflin, Jimmie Smith and daughter -in- law Diana Sisco.
Casket bearers will be his grandsons James Dale Smith, Jerrald Smith, Tim Sisco, Justin Mullennax, Ronnie Sisco, Chad King, Josh Hill and Ben Weber. Honorary casket bearers will be his great grandsons Chase Smith, Christopher and Hunter King.
The family of Russell Sisco will greet friends from 6 pm- 8pm at Trout Funeral Home on Monday, September 16, 2013.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, September 17, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at Trout Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Woodland Chimes Cemetery in Cleveland, Okla.
