TULSA, Okla. (AP) – Longtime Jenks High School football coach Allan Trimble has changed his mind about retiring.

Trimble says in a statement that "after careful and serious reflection," he has decided to withdraw his retirement that was announced Saturday.

The school said in the same statement that it is "pleasantly surprised" that Trimble has reconsidered and will remain as head football coach.

Trimble is one of the most successful coaches in Oklahoma high school football history. In 20 years at Jenks he’s coached 13 state championship teams – including the last four in a row – in Oklahoma’s largest classification. He has an overall record of 224-35, which includes nine forfeits in 2008 when Jenks was found guilty of multiple rules infractions and Trimble was suspended from coaching for eight months.
