101 Wild West Rodeo Announcer To Take The Big Stage In Texas

Garrett Yearigan, who is known for announcing the 101 Wild West Rodeo in Ponca City the last two years, has been chosen to work the 2019 RFD-TV’s “The American,” which will be held March 2-3 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It is the richest weekend in rodeo with over $2 million up for grabs. Yearigan was honored and humbled when he was asked to announce The American. Yearigan says that while he still can’t think of words to describe how he feels, he says he thanks the Lord , his family and friends have helped pushed and better himself every day.

Yearigan wants to give support to all the young announcers on the rodeo circuit. Yearigan says that there will be rough times and that patience is key. Yearigan said that starting out announcing slack and youth rodeos and jack pot barrel races can get people to where he is.

Garrett has been an active member in the FFA serving as the Chapter Sentinel and later Vice-President. He was blessed enough to be the 2012 Oklahoma FFA Proficiency Winner in Agricultural Communications and went on to be the National Winner that same year. Garrett finished in the Top 3 for Northeast District Starin Agribusiness in 2013, where he received his State FFA Degree and was the State and National Outdoor Recreation Proficiency Winner. In 2016, Garrett finished his FFA career by being a National Finalist for National Star in Agribusiness and received his FFA Degree.
