Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Ally Carda pitched a complete game to help UCLA defeat Oregon 7-1 last night in the Women’s College World Series. The seventh-seeded Bruins will play Michigan today. No. 2 seed Oregon will play Alabama tomorrow in an elimination game. A 49-minute weather delay began in the top of the third inning.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Lauren Sweet hit a grand slam to help Michigan beat Alabama 5-0 last night in the Women’s College World Series opener for both teams. Kelly Christner hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning. Sweet connected off Alexis Osorio in the fourth.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Pitcher Lauren Haeger had two hits as defending champion Florida defeated Tennessee 7-2 yesterday in the opening game of the Women’s College World Series. Haeger opened the scoring with a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the first inning. Kayli Kvistad followed with a two-run shot to center in the bottom of third to make it 3-0.
