Gundy says Wickline made lateral move

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) – In the ongoing legal drama over who calls the plays at Texas, Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy says his former assistant Joe Wickline made a lateral move in joining the Longhorns.

Whether Wickline took a promotion at Texas or got a title with the same duties he had in Stillwater is at the center of a nearly $600,000 dispute.

Oklahoma State’s breach of contract lawsuit against Wickline has now dragged Gundy and Longhorns coach Charlie Strong into giving lengthy sworn statements. The case could soon feature testimony from former Texas players and assistants.

Gundy sat for a four-hour deposition on April 22. A copy of the transcript was obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press through an open records request.
