NOC spring break trip to Scotland and England set for March 2017

Ponca City Now - August 11, 2016 1:58 pm

Northern Oklahoma College’s Gateway to the Humanities program is sponsoring a week-long trip to Edinburgh, Scotland, and London, England during Spring Break in March 2017.

The trip, organized through Education First Tours, is open to all adults 18 and older, alumni and community members, NOC students, faculty, and staff from all three NOC locations and the University Center.

Tour members will enjoy three full days in each of these two great cities. Sites included on the tour are Edinburgh Castle, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Piccadilly Circus, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and the Tower of London. Travelers may choose to sign up for additional sites such as St. Andrews University in Scotland and Windsor Castle, or they may prefer extra free time to explore on their own.

“This will be a fantastic trip,” said Dr. Don Stinson, NOC Language Arts Division instructor and the group leader for the tour. “The last time a group from NOC Tonkawa visited London was way back in 2008 and this will be the first time for a tour from our campus to hit Scotland. Since I’m of Scottish and English ancestry, I’m particularly excited. This tour offers a lot in a short time frame for a reasonable price. There are several seats still left, but people need to sign up quickly.”

Those interested in getting more information or enrolling should visit the EF Tours website at www.efcst.com/1763892EP. The current cost is $3,423 for those under 30 and $3,573 for those 30 and older and includes round-trip airfare, all ground transportation, lodging with private bathrooms, daily breakfasts, two dinners, admissions to scheduled attractions, and the services of a full-time tour director who is an expert on Great Britain and its culture.

A “back-to-school” informational meeting about the trip will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30. Anyone interested may attend the meeting at any of the following locations: Zollars 110 at NOC Enid, Wilkin Hall 309 at NOC Tonkawa, room 116 at the NOC Fountain Square building in Stillwater, or at the University Center in Ponca City (room TBA). During the meeting, Stinson will discuss the history of the Gateway Program, share information about the tour, and answer questions.

Besides the EF website, information is also available from Stinson at (580) 628-6442 or at [email protected]. Individuals are also encouraged to visit and “Like” the Gateway to the Humanities on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/GowithNOC?ref=hl.
