TULSA, Okla. (AP) – Police in Tulsa have fatally shot a man after they say he threw a knife at an officer who had tried unsuccessfully to use a Taser to subdue him.

Sgt. Shane Tuell tells the Tulsa World (http://bit.ly/29RVCR8) that a homeowner called police around 8 p.m. Sunday to report the man was threatening him with knives during an argument in his backyard.

Tuell says the man ignored orders to drop the two knives he was carrying. The officers struck him with several shots after he threw the knife at the officer who had tried to use the Taser against him.

The man was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Tuell says the officers likely will be placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
