7-month-old Ponca City Boy Injured in Accident

A personal injury collision occurred Thursday night at approximately 11:51 p.m. on I-35 northbound at the 216 mile marker, approximately 1 mile north of Tonkawa.

The first listed vehicle is a 2014 Prevost charter bus driven by Donald Bohnert, age 83, of Edmond, OK. He was not injured. There were six passengers in the vehicle, none of which were injured. There were: David Kripps, age 39, of Oklahoma City, OK, Christian Church, age 35, of Bellingham, WA, Jose Morelos-Regollar, age 22, of Santa Ana,  CA, Juan Arellano-Gonzales, age 27, of Santa Ana, CA, Alfonso Flores, age 19, of Oklahoma City, OK, and Derrick Boddy, age 41, of Belton, TX.

The second vehicle was a 2011 Ford Fusion driven by Sierra Hanger, age 22, of Ponca City. Hanger was taken by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to Blackwell Regional Hospital with cuts and scrapes where she was treated and released. The two passengers in the vehicle were juveniles, aged 3 and 7 months. The 3-year-old was also taken to the Blackwell Regional Hospital with cuts and scrapes, and was treated and released. The 7-month-old was transported by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to Blackwell Regional hospital then transferred via AirEvac to OU Children’s Hospital where he was admitted in good condition with injuries to the head.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, the second vehicle was traveling south bound in the north bound lanes. The first vehicle was traveling north bound in the north bound lanes. The two vehicles collided on the passenger side of both vehicles in the left lane of travel. The first vehicle came to rest in the median 1/10th of a mile north of the second vehicle.

The driver of the first vehicle was apparently in normal condition, whereas the driver of the second vehicle was allegedly DUI impaired.
