Godberson wins Republican primary for County Commissioner

In Tuesday’s Republican primary election for Kay County Commissioner Seat 1, Jack Godberson edged out Allen Hardesty in a field of five candidates. Godberson won the primary with 36 percent of the vote to Hardesty’s 34 percent. Only 829 people voted in the election.

The total votes tallied for the candidates were:

Jack Godberson, 299

Allen Hardesty, 285

Duane Vap, 114

Jay T. Kirkendall, 110

Jerald Stone, 21.

Godberson will face Democrat John Leven, of rural Newkirk, in November.
