Ponca City Emergency Management Director Paula Cain said that the National Weather Service upgraded the threat levels for storms today to include an area of Enhanced Risk.

The upgrade to enhanced risk includes Ponca City, Cain said.

“The primary threats are large hail up to golf ball size and 60 mph damaging wind gusts, although the tornado risk is very low,” she said.  “Timing for severe storms is sometime between 4 and 7 p.m.  Remember that severe thunderstorm winds can be almost as dangerous as tornadoes and equally destructive.  Be safe everyone!”
