PERKINS, Okla. (AP) – Two Guthrie Junior High School English teachers have been killed in a two-vehicle collision on Oklahoma 33 near Perkins.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 24-year-old Jennifer Briggs and 27-year-old Heather Wilson died in the crash just after 7 a.m. Monday.

The school district says Briggs taught 7th graders and Wilson taught 8th graders. The district said the two lived in Stillwater and carpooled to work.

The OHP told reporters that Briggs and Wilson were in a westbound vehicle that was struck by an eastbound van in the westbound lanes of traffic. Troopers say the van’s driver was hospitalized in serious condition.

The district said both Briggs and Wilson were in their first year of teaching and that grief counselors were at the school Monday for staff and students.
