UPDATE: 2 Fugitives Who Escaped From Detention Center Are In Custody, Authorities Say

ROGERS COUNTY, Oklahoma – 

Authorities have confirmed that the two fugitives that escaped from an Okmulgee detention center are in custody Sunday night.

U.S. Marshals and the Rogers County Sheriff’s office were searching for Dustin Marris and Coker Barker since their escape from the Moore Detention Center in Okmulgee on Saturday.

The Okmulgee County Criminal Justice Authority confirmed Barker and Marris were both captured by U.S. Marshals just after 9 p.m. Sunday night. Law enforcement received a tip that the escapees were at a house where they were spotted on Saturday.

Major Coy Jenkins with the Rogers County Sheriff’s Office says the community can now come off high alert since the inmates have been captured.

“Everyone can now get back to normal things at their home please be sure when you see these officers, to thank them there is a lot of gratitude to be handed out here,” said Jenkins.

Sequoyah and Foyil schools canceled classes today originally out of precaution due to the search.

Records show Marris was just convicted of shooting with intent to kill and Barker is awaiting federal trial for murder in Indian County.
