$1 million bond set for suspect in Newkirk homicide

Bond for Brock Ryan Wilkins, 32, was set at $1 million Monday in Kay County District Court on a probable cause warrant, in connection with the death of a Newkirk woman.

Michele Gentry, 53, of Newkirk, died on Saturday. The cause and manner of Gentry’s death will be determined by the State Medical Examiner’s office.

Wilkins was arrested by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and charged on a probable cause warrant.   His initial hearing will be Aug. 3 in Kay County District Court.

On Saturday, the Newkirk police department requested assistance from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation with an assault of a woman at 514 W 11th Street in Newkirk.

Gentry was found with traumatic injuries by relatives and later died.
